Experiences to Add to the Top of Your List When In Berlin

Berlin – the capital of Germany and a lively city buzzing with energy you would expect from any major city in Europe. While you may have already got an idea of what you want to do when you get to the city, this is a guide to show you ten experiences Berlin has to offer that you must try out before you leave.

Pergamon Museum

Pergamon Museum

This museum is filled with treasures from the ancient times. Built on Museum Island in 1930, this vast complex is now home to a variety of classical sculpture and priceless architecture from the Greek, Roman, and Babylonian ages as well as from the Middle East. Everything you see in the museum will leave you amazed and enlightened.

Everything you see in the museum was excavated and shipped to Berlin by various German archaeological projects at the beginning of the 20th century.

Schloss Charlottenburg

This former palace of the Prussian Royals has some beautiful baroque architecture. During the summer months is when the palace is at its more spectacular as you can go for a stroll around the grounds, relax in the sun surrounded by the stunning gardens, or enjoy a picnic after a day of exploring the interior of this fantastic attraction.

Nightlife

Berlin has acquired quite a reputation around the country for being a great spot for nightlife. After the reunification of the city after the Cold War, the club scene in the city exploded with opportunists transforming derelict sites such as power plants and post offices into clubs. Since then, you will be hard pressed to find a club that is not packed out on any day of the week in the city.

Scheunenviertel

Not quite your standard shopping mall, Scheunenviertel is Berlin’s edgy take on retail therapy. If you think yourself somewhat of an individual and style yourself in that manner, then you will find your shopping mecca here. From street wear, home decorations, gourmet foods and art, you will find everything you can imagine at Scheunenviertel.

Getting Around

Berlin is a great city to explore by car thanks to quickly flowing traffic and rare road works – something you wouldn’t expect from a major city.  This means that you can explore more of the city in a more comfortable and efficient fashion than you could by using public transport.

Should you be thinking about renting a car, consider using Auto Europe, who are one of the leading companies in car rentals in Europe. You can find out more online about the great deals that they do all year round.

Reichstag

What most people know of the Reichstag has come from their secondary school history lessons, but many are not aware that the German parliament has been handing out policies from this building since 1999. While much of Berlin is steeped in history, the Reichstag is one of the key attractions to visit should you be a history lover.

Jewish Museum

Jewish Museum

A trip to the Jewish Museum in the city is quite a powerful journey. The focus of the museum is looking at the treatment of Jews throughout the 2000 years of recordings, not just the 12 horrifying years of the Nazi reign. It is quite an eye opening and emotional experience.
